Hello! This is the second of three email newsletters I will send during the
fall updating you on the campaign and county board work.
CAMPAIGN 2005 SNIPPETS … 27 days to go…
Candidate Forums Abound
Jay has attended the first of many candidate forums this fall. The Civic Federation
hosted the first, followed by the Organized Women Voters, AAUW, Dover Crystal
and Ashton Heights civic associations.
Two Successful House Parties
Many thanks to Freddie Lutz and to Mike Fortunato for hosting recent receptions
at their beautiful homes. My parents attended the event at Freddie's and
loved meeting old and new friends.

Help Defeat Anti-Choice, Anti Gay Dick Black
Democrat David Poisson is running an incredible race to retire Republican Delegate
Dick Black. Poisson can win! Black is the most anti-gay, anti-choice state legislator
in America.
Black has just sent an inflammatory anti-gay letter across his district attacking
Democrat Poisson. In his letter, Black says: "Poisson is a staunch homosexual
advocate. He endorsed boys kissing each other in public school plays, advocates
gay adoption and same-sex insurance benefits."
See the PDF file of the
actual shocking anti-gay letter from Black. (750 KB)
You may remember Black as the legislator who sent Virginia Senators pink plastic
fetus dolls with a letter asking, ‘Would you kill this child?'
If you donate to one race besides Tim Kaine, make it David Poisson. This would
be a monumental achievement and send a message throughout Virginia.
You can contribute via credit card at the Poisson for Delegate website: http://www.poisson4delegate.com/donate-paypal.htm
Please note "per Jay Fisette" on his PayPal page "optional instructions"
field.

COUNTY ISSUES AND NOTEWORTHY NEWS
Affordable Housing Roundtable
The Roundtable was convened by the County Board to refine our policy about
contributions from developers to support affordable housing. At the October 5
meeting we achieved general support for the framework of a compromise. This is
difficult, but important work, with much at stake. I remain hopeful. Stay tuned.
Gov. Warner Appoints Fisette to BRAC Working Group
Governor Warner appointed Jay to the Northern Virginia BRAC Working Group,
chaired by NVCC President Robert Templin, to address the potential impacts of
the BRAC Commission recommendations on the region.
9-11 Remembrance
Arlingtonians gathered at Courthouse Plaza on the morning of September 11
to honor those who lost their lives and those courageous first responders who
did their jobs so well. Read Jay's comments at www.fisetteforarlington.org/news.html
Equality Virginia
Equality Virginia continues its great work with the creation of a PAC to help
influence Virginia's legislative elections. If you care about social justice
and GLBT equality, visit the EV website at www.EqualityVirginia.org.
Katrina Task Force Established
Jay convened a meeting of nearly 50 community leaders in early September.
Based on the discussion, the County Board established a task force to consider
options for a broader community response to Katrina - including an Adopt a Community
model. For more info, visit: www.arlingtonva.us/NewsReleases/Scripts/ViewDetail.asp?Index=1867
Fisette's Committee on Program Performance a Reality
On January 1, Jay announced his intentions to establish a system of third
party, independent performance audits. The
first three audits are now out for bid.
Dad's Army Reunion in Arlington
Jay's dad, Jerry, coordinated a 5-day reunion of his 1949 Officer Candidate
School class. They saw the sights by day, then went to Democratic political events
at night! Jay was the guest speaker at the closing banquet, held at Ft. Myer,
speaking about 9-11 and emergency preparedness.
Thanks for your ongoing support. Please contact me if I can be helpful in
any way&-and visit the website at www.fisette.org for
more information.
